FAO, “Integration of environment and nutrition in LCA of food items: opportunities and challenges”
Publication of the study ‘Integration of environment and nutrition in life cycle assessment of food items: opportunities and challenges‘.
This publication was announced during the 27 October FAO Virtual Event, and it is the result of a project involving 30 researchers from 18 countries.
The constructive consensus-building process described in this report led to the identification of key issues and recommendations for the environmental and nutritional LCA of food items.
The results provide a robust basis for future research to improve nutritional LCA methodology and apply it to identify solutions that minimize the trade-offs between nourishing people and safeguarding the environment.
